:- 4.0 out of 5 stars from Coffee♥︎ -- interesting (in a good way!) : It took me a few chapters to get into the flow of this book and a few more to decide whether or not I was enjoying it, but the more I read, the more it grew on me. I'm not trying to be vague or lukewarm here, I just found the book to be an odd and ultimately charming hodgepodge of wit, intrigue, anachronism, romance, and adventure. Being an assassin takes s great level of skill and control. Competitiveness also becomes part of the job. Magnus, Claus and Francois, really interesting to say the least. On one hand they are traveling in a carriage, but the bar and the suite are too modern of terms to use. If that won't bother you, it's a decent read. I was a little put off by the language, as it didn't always seem to fit the period of the story, but it didn't detract too much. They agree to be a part of a heist that involves using a “coachfest” as a cover. This book was unfortunately too modern for me in writing and dialogue that it took me out of the time period too much. Also the mafia plot twist at the end added way to much it was hard to wrap my head around. While I loved the use of cities as the chapter titles and the lgbtq+ representation this was not the one for me. ( Reviewed in the United States on October 1, 2021 )
